Worth Knowing
“Wisdom tells me I am nothing. Love tells me I am everything. And between the two my life flows.”
―Nisargadatta Maharaj
Man
I was born a man, I identify as a CIS heterosexual man, and prefer to be referred to as he / him for my pronouns. I respect and honor each individual’s choice of personhood.
Solo-Dad-Co-Parent
Being a present and participative dad is job #1. I had my daughter when I was 45 and my son at 47. I’ve been a solo-dad-co-parent to them since 2018 and I share 50% custody with their mother. Being a dad is the most fulfilling, perplexing, rewarding, and challenging job I have ever loved.
Entrepreneur
After 20 years in Corporate HR, I co-founded ParadoxEdge in 2011. I have recruited, hired, coached, developed, laid-off, inspired, been inspired by, and admired thousands of souls. I authored, illustrated, and published the children’s book, Love Fiercely: The Way of The Wood Dragon (2024).
Successful
My development and my success continue to grow every year. We've been a high-six-figure coaching practice for over a decade and have supported thousands of people in their development.
Musician
I started playing piano, guitar, and singing as a kid. Writing, playing, and performing music continues to be deeply fulfilling. I have recorded with Emmy and Grammy nominated musicians and if you look hard enough, you can find some of my tunes on your favorite steaming platform.
Athlete
Playing sports was my other favorite childhood activity. Tennis. Golf. Ping Pong. I was a three sport varsity athlete in High School and competed briefly in Division 1 Track & Field before being injured. Completing Ironman France in 2010 marked a lifetime “personal best”.
Mental Health
Mental heath has been a challenge. Anxiety. Depression. Addictive personality. Isolation. Loneliness. Mental health invites discernment of view, intention, speech, action, work, effort, attention, and concentration. I have 20 years of therapy, yoga, and meditation practice.
Nerd
BA in Biology / Psychology from the University of Delaware. Areas of study and practice include music, yoga, meditation, tennis, golf, cooking, baking, philosophy, gardening, website design, and poetry. Integral Theory & Practice. Enneagram. The Work. Human Design. Gene Keys. Strengthscope. Integral Master Coach Certification from Integral Coaching Canada.
Rebel
I may or may not have had some edgy encounters with “the authorities” in my younger, more wild and less wise days. An over active appetite for parties before coming of legal age. I am not an anarchist. I challenge what takes away an individual's freedom and makes them less than they could be.
A Fuller View
In addition to the sound bites above, read on if you care to learn more about me.
As the son of an HR expert and a teacher, and now as a single father myself, I'm deeply invested in understanding and promoting the essence of being Fully Human.
I believe human-to-human connections matter most.
Connected with your “true” and “authentic” self, you know where and how to powerfully take a stand and get into action.
Connected with your most important relationships, you feel recognized, appreciated, wanted, valued, and as if you lovingly and joyfully belong.
Connected with your work provides you a powerful way to express at least part of your life’s purpose and can be a major part of your identity.
I have connected with and guided thousands of people as a recruiter, as an HR business partner, as a corporate learning executive, as a head of HR, as a coach, speaker, author, teammate, friend, sibling, son, husband, and father.
When we work together, you’re selecting a partner who is working with you on behalf of your most important commitments. Commitments that you have made to yourself, to the most important people in your life, and for your career and your “life’s work”.
I bring my full breadth of experience — the triumphs and the lessons — to help guide you toward the career, the life, the person you most want to be. Over the past 30 years I have been immersed in leading the “people practices” for early stage start-ups, mid-market high growth companies, and Fortune 150 organizations.
Sounds fancy, right?
During those same 30 years I have also been fired, laid-off and quit. I’ve gotten married (and divorced) twice. Earned Master Integral Coach™ certification. Dealt with depression, anxiety and an addictive personality.
I rode the dot com bubble… until it burst. Started two chapters of Conscious Capitalism, willing the powers of Capitalism to shift their aim towards elevating humanity.
Friends and family have died. The way I hold my sense of self has died, multiple times. One of the more profound shifts in my sense of self happened when my two beautiful children were born. And my sense of self has been shattered, my heart broken open in love and loss too many times to count.
Somewhere along the way I learned that we must continuously develop new ways of seeing ourselves and the world around us. The ways we live, work, and play are always changing, inviting us to maintain a “beginner’s mind” or “growth mindset” in order to keep pace with a rapidly evolving world.
In both my own developmental work and while working with leaders in their fields, I have come to understand that we are our own biggest impediment to achieving our most desired outcomes. Or shall I say, our current way of being is what gets in our way most often. This is simply the nature of transformational work.
It is called transformation as we find our current way of being no longer serving us. At these moments, we must undergo a metamorphosis as we learn to let go of our tried and true ways and develop new capacities and competencies in order to continue forward in new, more discerning, more connected, more kind, loving, regenerative, sustainable, and effective ways.
I love working with visionary change leaders toward becoming greater stewards of the spark of life, developing our full humanity, and caring for the living systems of the planet, on behalf of future generations.
I offer a safe container and approach for adult development that guides you through your own discovery to arrive at a wider perspective. From this widened perspective you are able to identify and try some new moves, giving you an embodied new way of being, leading yourself toward your most inspired outcomes.
